who are you, anyway?
Jenna Guiggey, mezzo-soprano (she/her), is a singer and music educator based in Portland, ME. Jenna performs a diverse and demanding array of repertoire, including early Baroque, classic and modern musical theater, pop, rock, and contemporary choral music. She performs locally with the St. Mary Schola (an early music ensemble) in Falmouth and serves as an Artist in Residence with Oratorio Chorale in Brunswick. Jenna was most recently seen on stage as a young artist with Opera Susquehanna, where she performed the roles of The Abbess and Monitor in Suor Angelica and Zita in Gianni Schicci.
Jenna studied classical voice with Ellen Chickering and Bruce Fithian at the University of Southern Maine, earning a Bachelor of Music degree in music education and a Master of Music degree with a concentration in vocal performance and pedagogy. While at USM, Jenna was a soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, and participated in numerous performances with the Opera Workshop, where she performed roles such as Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) and Dejanira (Hercules). She has also studied Baroque vocal technique extensively, and was selected to perform in the Queens College Baroque Opera Workshop in 2014 and 2015, where she studied with Julianne Baird. She currently studies voice with celebrated mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano.
As an educator, Jenna works with many students in the Greater Portland and Central Maine area. She teaches private voice lessons at her studio in Auburn.
